Porcelanosa BGC Taguig City

WHEN ace architect Toyo Ito was asked to design the Fira underground station in Barcelona, he chose to tell the story of the city through a collage of archival photos depicted on ceramic tiles. The project required high precision technology to faithfully render the historic images, circa 1890 and onward, in specific shades of blue and white. To carry out his vision, which entailed applying similar materials on the stairs to project the illusion of water, he relied on Venis, one of the brands under the Porcelanosa Grupo, the global giant on ceramic tiles and Spain’s national pride.

Almost 40 years in the industry, Porcelanosa has a market presence in nearly 100 countries, with the Philippines joining its roster recently. A visit to the 700-square-meters showroom at the Infinity Tower in Bonifacio Global City proves why the gilded label, endorsed by George Clooney and Nicole Kidman, is a favorite among home developers, interior designers and architects. “Porcelanosa uses the highest quality raw materials to produce its ceramic tiles,” says Jay Ong, president of Casa Europa, the exclusive distributor of the brand in the country. “When they are properly installed, they remain solid and resistant. These floor and wall tiles do not need any type of maintenance once they have been laid.”
